The end is here, almost... we have just a few days left to this amazing 8 months away travelling as a family. Our very last stop before we head home is here on Kuata Island at Ruci's homestay. 3 days... we have to make the most of it right?! Of coarse that's what we need to do and here is how we did so! We started off with a hike to get the views from the highest point of the island. Then we set out to snorkel with some Manta's, well our parents did. Olivier and I preferred to stay back and chill on the beach because, well you know, we saw Manta's already in Indonesia not so long ago... Went out for some early morning fishing And finally, my parents did something really crazy... they went diving with Bull sharks! If you didn't know, these sharks are huge and known to be quite agressive, the most agressive actually... and they are like 3 meters long and too big for even my dad to wrap his arms around... I don't know why they seemed soo excited to do this but hey, they decided that it would be the expérience of a life time! They came back with huge smiles, alive and in 1 piece! They say they were lucky to see so many, from really close up, just within arms reach. At least 20 of them (they are feed for this activity, not much but a few fish heads). Here's a few picture and a video of their experience. And that's a wrap folks.. our 8 month travel has come to an end... and the long trip back begins.. Anecdote: In Los Angeles, during our layover, we left the airport, with the luggage trolley carrying all our bags, and walked 2 km to the nearest subway. Yes with the luggage trolly from the airport...
As we walked along the high traffic route, everything grey and dirty with the forecast covered and menacing to shower us down... my mom says to me: hey, remember when we left Kuata? (How can I forget sitting on that lovely beach hoping the boat didn't come for us!). Well she says, it was 2pm on august 22, 2022, and now, well its... 2pm and it's august 22, 2022! OMG, after so many hours of travels, living that same moment in time twice was really weird! And needless to say the first time was way better ;)
